Three Ways to Experience
Kotohira Kadan
Kotohira Kadan's three guest room facilties are Fujimidai, Shogetsu Terrace, and Sansuikaku, and each has its own aesthetic and style.
Fujimidai has both Japanese and Japanese-Western rooms, including rooms with private open-air baths.
Shogetsu Terrace has spacious Western rooms that overlook Sanuki Fuji as well as the Kotohira townscape.
Sansuikaku rooms all have a beautiful view of the Japanese garden which changes with the passing of the seasons.
No matter which you choose, the perfect room for any trip or occasion can be found at Kotohira Kadan.
All guest rooms are non-smoking.
Guests who wish to smoke are invited to use the smoking area.
Fujimidai
Fujimidai ~ Forest & Mountain
Remodeled in 2018, Fujimidai's east-facing guest rooms have a beautiful view of the Sanuki Plains and the Asan mountains, including Sanuki Fuji. To the west, the rooms show the peaceful landscape of Mount Kotohira. This sacred forest is home to the gods enshrined in Konpira-san. With Japanese rooms, Special Japanese-Western rooms, as well as other room types with open-air baths, Fujimidai has the perfect, luxurious option for special occasions or just because.
JAPANESE-WESTERN ROOM WITH OPEN-AIR BATH
Our Special Japanese-Western rooms have open-air baths on private terraces, with a view of a small private garden. The Japanese portion of the room is spacious and the window-side sitting area features comfortable hand-picked designer chairs. In the spring, guests can view weeping cherry trees from the comfort of their rooms.

JAPANESE ROOM WITH OPEN-AIR BATH
Fujimidai's Japanese rooms with open-air baths have beautiful views of the Asan mountain range, and a private bath on an attached terrace. With large, cozy tubs, a long bath is the perfect way to indulge while staying at Kotohira Kadan.

Twin Room with open-air bath
Twin rooms in Fujimidai offer a chance to enjoy the natural beauty of Mount Kotohira while bathing on a private terrace. With a fragrant hinoki wood tub, and sunlight filtering through the trees, guests can indulge in forest bathing, one of Japan's great wellness trends. In-room amenities like a flatscreen TV give a homey touch of modern comfort.

Special Japanese-Western Room
These corner rooms on the 5th and 6th floor of Fujimidai are Special Japanese-Western suites. Each is about 90m2 of luxurious space overlooking Kotohira Kadan's garden and the Sanuki Plains. Room layouts include a tatami living room, a special square Ryukyu tatami twin bedroom, as well as a Western-style living space (room 510 has a sofa, while room 610 has a large table and chairs.)

Japanese room
These are Fujimidai's Standard rooms. Rooms facing east overlook the Sanuki Plains and Asan mountains, including Sanuki Fuji. West-facing rooms have a peaceful view of sacred Mount Kotohira.

Shogetsu Terrace
Shogetsu Terrace ~ with a view of Heritage Site Sayabashi
All rooms in Shogetsu Terrace face east for beautiful morning sunlight and romantic views of the moon. They also boast a bird's eye view of Konpira's ancient pine trees and Sayabashi, a National Tangible Heritage Site. Sayabashi is a sacred bridge that crosses the nearby Kanakura River, and off in the distance, Sanuki Fuji is also on display. All rooms in Shogetsu Terrace are Western style; two rooms are outfitted with traditional Japanese sunken tables, one room is barrier free, and one room can accommodate triple-occupancy.
Twin Room
In our Japanese-modern style Western rooms, guests can relax at a traditional sunken table. With beautiful views of Kotohira town, Sayabashi, Kotohira's pine-forested park, and distant Sanuki Fuji, there is no better place to see all of Kotohira's beauty, all while in the comfort of your room.

Barrier-free Twin

Triple Room
This corner triple room is a spacious 62m2. A large picture window gives a perfect view of Kotohira town; snuggle up on the sofa and unwind while gazing out at the panorama. At night, turn out the lights for star and moon gazing. With so much beauty around, the Kotohira immortalized in classic poetry feels closer here.

Sansuikaku
Sansuikaku The Emotive Power of Nature
Renovated in 2019, Sansuikaku's exterior gives a new, refreshing take on the traditional ryokan. With an expanded, open entryway, the garden melds into the architecture and invites nature indoors. New Japanese-Western rooms with open-air baths also bring a sense of harmony with the outside world. For even greater comfort, Sansuikaku's Standard Rooms have also been fully renovated; a private, reservation-only onsen spa has also been built exclusively for guests of Sansuikaku. In 2023, Japanese-Western rooms with private open-air baths were added.
Japanese-Western Room with open-air bath Type A
Large windows facing the Japanese garden lend a sense of timelessness to the view from a Type A room. Warm interior colors and tasteful Japanese modern furniture invite quietude. The comfortable chairs on the terrace encourage guests to linger outdoors and enjoy the open-air bath.

Private Open-Air Bath Mori no Yu
Sansuikaku's Mori no Yu opened in 2019 after extensive renovations. Situated in the sacred forest of Mount Kotohira, this luxurious, light dappled bathing space offers the Japanese onsen experience in total privacy.
